  • Summary

    The Director of Product Marketing will lead a team of marketing professionals responsible for all content creation, positioning, messaging, lead generation, sales materials, competitive intelligence, market research and customer communications for key CPA.com products. The position reports directly into the VP Marketing.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Lead a team of marketing professionals to achieve stated goals & objectives.


    1. Provide the planning and leadership to the team by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, processes, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and exceed the goals of the marketing plans.


    1. Develop revenue and budget goals and forecasts and manage assets to achieve them.


    1. Oversee the development of marketing plans and product positioning to drive competitive advantage, revenue, and market share.


    1. Be the subject matter expert within marketing for content creation.


    1. Responsible for clearly framing the positioning and purpose behind CPA.com products, resulting in concise and effective storytelling to prospects and customers.


    1. Develop product messaging that differentiates our products


    1. Ensure we are developing clear and compelling copy


    1. Develop Sales tools that support our sales teams and sales cycle


    1. Partner with Product Management to shape and inform the product roadmap


    1. Support the planning and execution of product releases


    1. Be the expert on our target audience and their personas including strong segmentation and database strategies


    1. Own competitive intelligence, and dive deep into our competitors’ offerings to educate our sales teams and position them for success. Enable Sales to effectively communicate and position the value proposition of the products


    1. Create content for demand generation activities, including content assets 


    1. Create presentations for sales teams. Deliver presentations at conferences and other events


    1. Help our Product and Sales teams respond to business problems and market feedback, so we can anticipate customer needs


    1. Demonstrate a strong commitment to Sales & Marketing alignment


    1. Use marketing data and financial reporting to assess and adjust team activities and improve results.


    1. Possess knowledge of marketing best practices and professional issues in accounting and drives team awareness and adoption of new ideas.


    1. Work cross-functionally to anticipate, identify, and proactively solve problems for his or her team and related peers.


    1. Develop and maintain relationships with key strategic partners.


    1. Determine selection and training of staff.


    1. Actively coach and mentor others by acting as an experienced coach.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) in marketing or business-related discipline; from four-year college or university; MBA preferred; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience marketing technology products in the accounting category a significant plus.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet software, human resource systems software, project management software, database software, Microsoft PowerPoint, and content management systems.
