About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and relationship-driven Director of National Accounts to lead and grow CPA.com’s engagement with the Top 100 CPA firms. These firms represent the most complex, transformative, and strategically significant partnerships in our ecosystem.
Reporting to the EVP of Growth & Professional Services, this individual will serve as the primary relationship owner and executive liaison, working directly with firm C-suite and practice leaders to build alignment, elevate opportunities, and drive adoption of CPA.com’s portfolio of solutions, services, and partner technologies.
This role requires executive presence, high emotional intelligence, and a strong understanding of the CPA firm business model. You will act as an extension of the EVP—representing CPA.com’s strategic priorities in firm engagements and driving forward our account-based strategy across multiple stakeholders and service areas.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Relationship Leadership
- Serve as the senior relationship leader for firms in the Top 100 CPA firm segment.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with firm executives, practice line leaders (CAS, audit, tax, advisory), and operational stakeholders.
- Structure, plan, and facilitate strategic meetings and engagements, ensuring continuity and executive alignment.
Strategic Account Planning & Opportunity Development
- Own strategic account planning across assigned firms—capturing firm structure, priorities, engagement history, whitespace, and opportunity roadmap.
- Identify firm-specific business challenges and proactively introduce relevant solutions, services, or technology partners.
- Collaborate with internal product, services, and partner teams to shape firm strategies, pilots, and adoption pathways.
Cross-Functional & Partner Orchestration
- Facilitate introductions and coordinate executive-level interactions between firms and CPA.com’s leadership or key technology partners.
- Lead internal account planning sessions and ensure alignment across cross-functional stakeholders (sales, marketing, product, services).
- Act as the escalation point for firm concerns, navigating resolution through internal teams or partner collaboration.
Thought Leadership & Value Communication
- Evangelize CPA.com’s value proposition across the full breadth of our capabilities—including services, technology partnerships, benchmarking, and education.
- Represent CPA.com at firm-led events, conferences, and strategic planning sessions as a thought partner and transformation advocate.
- Deliver insight-driven engagement by connecting firm goals to CPA.com’s ecosystem of solutions and industry initiatives.
Team Leadership & Support Oversight
- Manage a team of Account Managers who will assist in day-to-day coordination support, meeting preparation, scheduling, communications, and follow-up.
- Ensure visibility and accountability of all strategic engagements across assigned firms.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of the CPA profession or professional services industry, including common business models, service line dynamics, and transformation trends.
- 10+ years of experience in strategic account management, client relationship leadership, or enterprise partnership roles.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executives (CFO, Managing Partner, COO, Practice Leaders) in large, complex organizations.
- Strong business acumen with an ability to align solutions to client goals and create momentum for change.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in cross-functional coordination, sales enablement, or partner-driven ecosystems.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing complexity, and representing an executive office with credibility.
- Impeccable reliability and performance consistency across all business activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with or within Top 100 CPA firms, professional services consultancies, or accounting technology providers.
- Familiarity with CAS, audit transformation, tax innovation, firm strategy, and operations.
- Exposure to account-based relationship management, value selling, or strategic advisory programs.
