Summary

The Director of Tax Product Management at CPA.com will lead the messaging, practice development, and accounting firm enablement strategies as it relates to Tax Advisory and transformation within the tax category driven by technology disruption.  The focus is developing clear articulation and deep subject matter expertise across a portfolio of tax-focused solutions and services, that in turn, deliver value and provide direction to accounting firms advancing tax advisory strategies to service clients. This includes both CPA.com-developed and partner-led technologies, as well as professional services, education, and practice transformation resources. This highly visible, externally facing role will serve as a key voice of thought leadership, representing CPA.com and the profession on the future of tax - helping firms modernize their practice models, adapt to regulatory and tax code changes, and capitalize on emerging technologies.

 

This individual will work cross-functionally with product development, marketing, sales, practice development, strategic partners, and the profession to drive portfolio growth, adoption, and relevance in the market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio & Offering Management

  • Inform and execute the strategy, management, and expansion of CPA.com’s tax portfolio including technology solutions, strategic partnerships, professional services, and practice development resources.
  • Apply deep tax domain knowledge to shape compelling offerings aligned with firm needs across compliance, advisory, planning, and client collaboration.
  • Evaluate gaps and opportunities in the market and lead discovery and execution efforts for new offerings.

 

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Inform a long-term vision and roadmap for CPA.com’s tax category that aligns with CPA.com’s role in the profession and the evolution of the tax landscape.
  • Translate firm challenges and regulatory shifts into innovative strategies that leverage technology solutions and services that support firm growth, efficiency, and value creation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners to prioritize and deliver on high-impact initiatives.

Market Evangelism & Thought Leadership

  • Serve as a visible leader and external representative for CPA.com’s tax transformation strategy - speaking at industry conferences, firm events, webinars, and strategic meetings with Top 500 firms and more broadly.
  • Articulate the value of CPA.com’s offerings and vision within the context of broader tax and technology trends (e.g., AI, automation, workflow modernization, IRS initiatives).
  • Build trust and credibility with firm leaders by showcasing a strong understanding of their business models, client needs, and transformation goals.

Market Intelligence & Profession Engagement

  • Maintain insight into tax policy and regulatory developments and translate these into market-relevant implications and guidance.
  • Conduct market research and collaborate with tax leaders to identify emerging needs, technology adoption trends, and service model shifts.
  • Lead or participate in advisory groups to gain practitioner feedback and shape strategic direction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop positioning, messaging, and content that highlights the tax portfolio’s differentiation and supports firm engagement.
  • Partner with the Sales and Customer Success teams to enable go-to-market strategies and develop materials that support firm conversations and adoption.
  • Work closely with the Practice Development team to connect technology solutions with upskilling, process redesign, and change management support.

Customer Lifecycle & Practice Enablement

  • Oversee key components of the firm experience ensuring CPA firms receive not only tools, but the enablement of resources to drive successful implementation and transformation.
  • Identify metrics for success and work across teams to track portfolio performance and measure impact on firm outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field required. CPA or EA strongly preferred. Master's in taxation or JD is a plus.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in a CPA firm or tax-related technology, consulting, or advisory organization.
  • Proven experience in a strategic, market-facing role related to tax transformation, technology adoption, or service line development.
  • Prior experience with product management, solution development, or partner management a strong plus.
  • Track record of public speaking, professional writing, or presenting to executive-level audiences.
  • Deep understanding of accounting firm operations, tax workflow, compliance, and advisory service models.
